THE CONTOURS OF ABSURDITY
Being 90 years old is no joke, especially
when lightning strikes on a sciatica nerve
in the middle of the night and you wake up
in excruciating pain—unable to walk or talk.
You stagger into the bathroom to pee,
screaming with the slightest movement,
when you lose your balance and fall headfirst
right into the toilet bowl which reminds you
of dunking for apples with coins on Halloween.
